Mostly I am thinking I don’t have to get up early tomorrow. I do keep coming back to how I can use what I have learned during this class in my classroom. I think I may try movie maker with my Art IV students. I may have them create their portfolios on movie maker then burn them to a CD. They could take the digital portfolios on college visits. I do have my students create an actually portfolio and they enjoy those. It was a short day and I am glad to have this time to wrap up any loose ends I may have so that I don’t have to remember to email mom anything later.

Beauty
is the sensation of pleasure on the mind
Objects external invoke distain
Beauty captures your attention
But Beauty lies
Walking majestically
Beauty is brought down
By that silent killer – Time
Leaving Barbie hollow
Reflection on Triadic Writing
June 14th, 2007 by kimonoviolet · No Comments · Uncategorized
I enjoyed the Triadic writing. I didn’t, however, follow the direction to the letter. I took my younger sister’s advice on this one and took the subject choices of writing as a suggestion. I wrote about my dad. Father’s Day is on Sunday and I have no idea what we are getting him. One of the voices was Dad’s sayings (favorite phrases Dad uses), the second voice is one of the kids or grandkids asking or saying something to Dad and the last voice is an explanation of the situation.
Golden Line Poems

Yesterday Sheryl demonstrated how to create Golden Line Poems. I think this is an excellent way to introduce students to writing poetry. I don’t think students would be as frighten of writing poetry if they have never created poems. I have discovered that quite a few of my students have never written poetry or they have written poetry, but it has only been of one style. I am an art teacher so I like to have my students create visual representations of their poems after they have written and edited the poems. It amazes me every time which students will work at create a unquie and interesting poem as opposed to the students who do just what is required. I like the idea of create categories of Golden Lines. Some examples, an art quote, a 80′s music, a movie line, or poetry category. Those categories could even be broken down into time periods or styles or specific people. I will probably add this to my lesson plans for next year.
Music lyrics, Beethoven’s No.9, and no Dr. Pepper

Today my suspion that my older sister is the Dancing Queen was confirmed. As we brainstormed music lyrics for Golden Line poems I found my older sister knows more 8o’s songs then anyone else I know.
Later as I created my movie, I found I had two choices when adding music to my movie. Beethoven’s No.9 and Highway Blues. I listened to them both. Surprisingly, Beethoven’s No. 9 won out over Highway Blues. I have also learned that simply by trying something new in Movie maker you will learn, whether you actually accomplish your goal or not. I took the time to try things. I didn’t always know what I was doing, but it was fun and (Thank you, Lisa and Mom) I saved frequently.
I don’t often drink Dr. Pepper anymore unless under stress or I am in summer mode (staying up late reading when I need to be up early the next morning). So today I thought I would go get a Dr. Pepper. I was, however, denied. The machines were out of order and the snack stand was closed. The one thing that helped was that I had to go outside to get to the snack stand therefor I warmed up somewhat before returning to the icebox they call the computer lab.
Getting out to my car

Slipping out the door before Gus down the hall can come snorting and growling to jump up on me. Shoving his ugly pug face as close to my hand as he can get. Struggling to keep the key quiet and lock my door so the yappie rat dog across the hall won’t hear me.
The walk across my poop infested front lawn usually doesn’t bother me. However, there are days I strongly dislike people who have pets inside. Those are the days when I really want to sit out is the yard, but can not for sit in dog leavings.
There is an explanation for my strong dislike of indoor dogs (the little yappie ones in particular). Nine months ago I was attacked by a dirty white monstrosity. I was walking on the side of the street (there are no sidewalks) so I wasn’t even in the thing’s territory. I had almost past the house it was in when the man who lived there opened the door to talk with someone. I had my headphones on, but saw the little ***** out of the corner of my eye. I assumed it would stop, but it didn’t. The dog zipped around behind me and bit the back of my right knee. The bite didn’t need stitches, but I had never been bitten by an animal that hard. I can still see the mark and I get the urge to launch every yappie small dog I come across. One would think I could get past this event after nine months- NO- I still feel the need to see the little ******* fly through the air to land smack on the ground.
Reflection on blogs

Blogging
Two things one should know about me(the individual writing this): One- I am a visual person so I have a hard time talking on the phone and Two:- I am still firmly planted in the stoneage – in other words I have no computer at home. I don’t even have cable.
Knowing these things might help explain my view on blogging. My view is not completely in the negative. I think if set up correctly blogging would help some students, but the setting up would take a long time and teaching the students to use it correctly would take even longer. At the present I am not knowledgable enough on blogging to take the time to set the whole thing up.
I also teach in a very small rural district and as hard as it seems to believe not all my students have computers in their homes. They stuff for video games, but no computer.
I think, for me, it would be more trouble then it is worth. I do feel that someone more knowledgable and the willingness to create the blog it would work.
real name poem

Real name poem by S. Meyer
Yester year
I was known as Clench Silk Kimono Violet.
I glide
through the rough fingers of mystery men.
In the distorted today that has not yet happend
my name was slipped
onto the tongues of dark eyed gypsies.
Sultry Irressistible
was the wet slide.
Tomorrow
my name will be a mad panic word
on the muddle minds
of the easily led astray.
Chaotic Teaberry
will echo softly in the dark musty recesses
of the mind.
